Six Fabulous Tips for Healthier Hair

Your hair is a massive part of your appearance, so we know you’ll be wanting it to look it’s best! A big part of how great your hair looks actually comes down to how healthy your hair is.

Many of our clients come into our hairdressers in Luton and ask our stylists, ‘How can I get healthier looking hair?’. Whilst it can’t be achieved immediately, there are a few things that you can do to help your hair both look better and be healthier.

Here are 6 tips to help you get healthier hair…

1. Get your hair cut regularly.

This is the most important tip of all in our opinion! Having your hair cut every 6-8 weeks is crucial to keeping your hair healthy, no matter what it’s length. If you leave it too long between hair appointments, split ends will start to build up and this will cause your hair to look damaged and it will inhibit it’s growth. 2. Don’t brush your hair whilst wet.

When your hair is wet, it is much more fragile than usual and breaks easily. Avoid brushing your hair immediately after you wash it. If your hair is prone to tangling and needs to be detangled after you wash it, choose to use a wide-tooth comb. This doesn’t tug and pull your hair like a brush does.

3. Sleep on a silk pillowcase.

Most of us choose to sleep on a cotton pillowcase, but there are many advantages to switching to silk – one of them being that it’s better for your hair! Cotton has a tendency to rob moisture from your hair and is much harsher on your hair too. For your hair, investing in a silk pillowcase is definitely worth the extra expense!

4. Use the right hair products for your hair.

There are so many hair products out there for you to choose from, so how do you know which are right for you? 5. Eat a healthy and balanced diet.

What you eat has a greater effect on the healthiness of your hair than you’d probably expect! The health of your hair is vastly dependent on the nourishment you give it. Try to eat a diet that is high in protein, vitamins and minerals, and this will help your hair stay healthy. If you are trying to grow your hair, here are a few foods that will enhance hair growth: green leafy vegetables, beans, seeds, fish and chicken.

6. Drink more water.

You’ll have heard this a million times before, but water is vital for many areas of your body’s health. From clearer skin, to weight loss, to healthier hair – water is key! Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, as this will keep your hair properly hydrated.
